Camping Rig Feature - E1

Hi, we’re Kat and Andy with our 2 wolf dogs, Max and Minnie. Together we are Camping with Wolves and you can find us on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. We are avid campers but also enjoy running, swimming, hiking and biking! Below is a quick rundown of some of our favourite camping gear.

Tent - Oztent RV5

We went for this tent after we'd been looking for a quick setup, we really liked the idea of a roof top tent but it wasn’t suitable for us with 2 large dogs as they would have to sleep in the car on their own. The great thing about the Oztent is that it’s a pop up style but still super robust and roomy. We chose the RV5 due to wanting enough space for 2 camp cots and the dogs. The Oztents are really versatile and can be setup in many different ways. For a quick pitch you can just pop it up and peg out then your good to go. If you need a little shelter the front canopy unrolls and can be pegged out with 2 guy ropes and poles. If the weather is a little chilly or worse for wear you can zip on the additional sides and front panels which then doubles the tent in size and creates a living area. The tent has 2 side windows and a large mesh back window. All the windows have a canvas flap to keep out the water. The entrance has 2 doors which zip all round and also includes a mesh screen to keep out the bugs for when you want the doors open for air flow. This setup works really well for our adventures and overlanding as it easy to setup and take down. The tent is 2m long and stored in our roof basket for transport.

Stove - Outbacker Firebox Tent Stove

We camp all year round so we invested in a decent tent stove. It’s great for those chilly nights out. A tent stove is used inside a canvas tent and the flue exits via a flashing kit to protect the tent. The tent is then nice and toast warm and the stove also doubles up as a cooking hob. We like to get a stew on the go in our billy pot. After use, the stove is cleaned out of ash and then packs back into itself ready to go in the carry bag. It’s a little weighty due to being cast iron but not a problem when you have a pick-up truck.

Chair - Oztent King Goanna Chair

This chair is super comfy and has a high back. It packs down like most camping chairs into its own bag. The chair has a 2 insulated cup holders and a pocket to keep small bits in with a Velcro closer. You can also buy hotspot lumber support for if you get a little chilly on your back.

Rig

We love our set up. We have a Front Runner Slimline 2 roof rack, they are a little pricey but a great investment. They are light weight and can be customised to your setup. On the rack so far we have added awning clips for our shower/toilet cubical, which just rolls down and then folds out. The basket which is to house our tent in transport as the tent is 2m long and has to be transport on a flat surface. We also have the axe mount, GoPro mount to house our camera when we’re out off roading, 4 eyelets to secure our wolfpack boxes and not to forget the most important thing; the bottle opener. We also have recently added a Stedi ST4k Double Row LED light bar to help illuminate the road on the dark country lanes or to help when we arrive late at camp.
