Daniel Moylan - The Lone Ranger
I’m originally from UK but now living in Ireland, having moved back after 10 years living & working in Thailand. My family and I love off-road and overland travel. I drove around the world in 2007 single handed (for the most part), 32 countries, 12 months, 23,000 miles. I now run Overland Protection Systems, UK & Europe arm of PIAK Offroad & FORTMAN Industries. We create heavy duty & high performance off road protection & lifestyle equipment for Ranger, Raptor and other models.

This is our 5th Ranger, having owned every model since our 51 plate XLT. We bought it in Bangkok and began our mods there; a 3 loop PIAK front bar, LED spots, and the basic FORTMAN rear bar. When we moved to Ireland, we had to switch to the non loop bar to be legal for the EU/UK roads. We own a farm in Thailand and often used the winch for extremely heavy duty pulling, (think mud bogged cement trucks, landscaping with 2 tonne rocks etc.) I was also a founding member of several car clubs in Thailand, and designed off road driving days up to 100kms per day in our local area. Prior to leaving Thailand, we decided to undertake a family expedition around the country, and fitted the rear bed rack, water tank, rooftent and awning. Together with my wife and 3 kids, we travelled the length and breadth of Thailand, (which was without tourists due to covid) and camped on beaches, forests and mountains along the way. We moved to Ireland in June 2021, and shipped/ imported our Ranger with us, via Roro, it took around 2 months to arrive, but was a fairly straightforward process to clear customs, register and get road legal and insured. It does not have adblue fitted, and feels somewhat more powerful than the European variants.
