Ford Ranger 'J' Brace Update

As of September 2025 for Ranger Raptor, and November 2025 for Ranger, ‘J’ brace reinforcements are no longer required.

Previously, if retrofitting a canopy, a j-brace was required to be retrofitted… Now all vehicles have the j-brace regardless of whether a canopy is ordered. This makes a retrofit canopy quicker, easier and cheaper to fit due to less labour time

When the ‘Next-Gen’ Ford Ranger was released in 2023, vehicles with “Accessories extending above the load box side rail and weighing in excess of 45kg must have load box reinforcement brackets installed”

FORD Ranger Body and Equipment Mounting Manual (06/2024): To support the structural integrity of the load box when load bearing elevated accessories are fitted, Ford recommends the installation of load box reinforcement brackets. Examples of these include canopies, ladder racks, cattle cages, carrier cross bars, load-bearing elevated accessories etc. Load box reinforcement brackets are available as a Ford service part.
