Take a Seat to Discover How The New 2 Seater Ranger Boosts Versatility

Article by Roy Williams - Ranger & LCV Product Manager forFord of Britain and Ireland

What is the first word that comes into your head when you think of the Ford Ranger? For me, it’s ‘'versatility”.

For example, we know the majority of Ranger customers tow ¹ — whether it’s a food trailer for business operations, a horsebox for weekend leisure or even just helping out a friend because you can.

And if a Ranger isn’t towing, there is a likelihood it’s being used off-road ² — making light work of slippery conditions, maybe even at the same time as carrying heavy and bulky items that wouldn’t fit in conventional cars. ³ Like a hay bale, perhaps.

On the road, our Ranger PHEV offers ultimate refinement with up to 43 kilometres pure electric driving capability ⁴ and also gets a versatility boost from its available Pro Power Onboard technology ⁵ — turning the pickup into a mobile power source that can turn any location into a worksite without the need for a separate generator.

All of these use cases meet in the driving seat of a Ford Ranger — helping make it Europe's best-selling pickup for 11 consecutive years. ⁶

So where am I going with this? Well, now we have introduced the Ranger Double Cab as a two-seat, making it the compelling pickup choice for carrying an even greater breadth of tools, equipment and goods.

This adds yet another layer of versatility. Not every customer wants, needs or uses the rear seats in their Ranger — in many cases using this space to store the equipment they need for long working days.

With no rear seats, this space can now be better utilised as a dedicated storage area to keep those belongings warm and dry where the load bed isn’t suitable.

Ranger Double Cab 2-Seat features a robust bulkhead, aluminium panels in place of glass windows, a new loadspace liner and heavy-duty floor with anchor points.

The rear cabin space is designed to be used for storage of toolboxes and work equipment.

Significantly, this new Ranger variant is engineered for the carrying of goods. That means eligible customers should be able to claim 100 per cent plant and machinery allowance and apply the flat rate company van benefit-in-kind (BIK). ⁷

We know that Ranger customers buy them for their capability, off-road ability, towing capacity and hard-earned reputation as reliable, practical workhorses for businesses and sole traders.

These are customers who rely on Ranger for its ability to get the job done.

So, what does it look like? The Ranger Double Cab 2-Seat features a robust bulkhead behind the seats, aluminium panels in place of glass windows, a new loadspace liner and heavy-duty floor with anchor points — creating an ideal storage area for toolboxes and work equipment.

We’re launching the Ranger Double Cab 2-Seat variant in Wildtrak specification — by far the most popular with customers — with both PHEV and diesel powertrains. We have plans to broaden the offering later this year and beyond.

This new model is testament to our dedication to provide a Ranger for everyone and every use case, and our commitment to keep evolving the Ranger lineup to provide solutions that work hard for our hard-working customers— including models specifically configured for carrying goods.
